Frequently Asked Questions
This section is designed to help answer some of the common questions that
clients have prior to starting counseling. Information is subject to change.
How long is therapy?
Counseling can be brief, short-term or long-term depending on the client’s
needs.
How long is each individual
session? Sessions are typically 45 minutes each.
What If my session takes longer than 45 minutes?
Longer sessions are pro-rated based on the 45 minute fee.
How long are couples sessions? Couples sessions are
generally 50 minutes. Longer sessions are pro-rated based on the 50
minute fee.
What are phone sessions? Some clients want to talk
to Mary Ann between sessions. You are free to call any time. You will be
charged according to the length of the session.
When would a client do a phone session?
-in between sessions.
-when they cannot make it to the office.
-when they move out of town.
-when they are traveling.
-when an alternative to an office session is necessary.
What is your
cancellation policy? For all services, clients are asked to
give 24 hours cancellation notice or they will be charged. If a
client is late for an appointment, they will still be charged
for the full session.
When is payment due? Full
payment is due at time of session.

Do you take insurance? Insurance
coverage is accepted under the following guidelines:
My
credentials are: MS, LCPC (Licensed Clinical Professional
Counselor), CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor), and NCC
(National Counselor Certification).
Your insurance is a contract between you,
your employer and the insurance company. I am not a party to
that contract unless I am a preferred provider with your
insurance company. My requirement is payment in full at the time
of your session, and that you be reimbursed by your insurance
company.
My fees are generally considered to fall
within the acceptable range by most companies, and therefore are
covered up to the maximum allowance determined by each carrier.
We accept health
insurance coverage and participate in most PPO programs
including but not limited to: Aetna Behavioral Health,
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield/Unicare/HealthLink,Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna,
Magellan, Managed Health Network, United
Healthcare/United Behavioral Health and Value Options. Please contact us if you do
not see your insurance company listed.
Not all
services are covered benefits. Please check your policy to
determine coverage. NOTE: While filing of insurance claims is a
courtesy that I extend to my clients, all charges are your
responsibility from the date services are started. After
initially contacting Mary Ann, and if you are planning to use
insurance, please contact
